We were nursing sore heads today!

What a night! The Swiss people know how to party! We slept until 3pm.. almost a whole day wasted.. but not entirely. With recommendations from Manuel.. we went by train to a couple of lakeside destinations.. Lausanne and Montreux. Check out the photos to get an idea of just how beautiful these places are. I have no words.

In Lausanne.. we passed an old church that was ringing it's bells for maybe ten minutes solid. I don't know if there was a particular reason for it to be chiming so long.. but the sound of bells ringing is a common thing in Switzerland.

Andrew and I had a bite to eat in Montreux by the lake while watching the sunset before heading back to the train station. We took a short trip to a town called Morges to meet up with Manuel and his lovely girlfriend Beatrice for a friend's birthday dinner at a quaint little tavern called La Taverne De Vertou.

We ate meat fondue.. and it was an interesting experience. I remember on the odd occasion eating meat fondue as a kid.. but this was something else. Large chunks of the highest quality steak and chicken.. green salad with a tangy dressing.. fresh bread.. and a bottle of merlot. There was more food than we could possibly eat.. and I was stuffed!

We took a late train back to Fribourg.. but before bed we were treated to a Crème brûlée.. homemade by Manuel.. and it was good. As Manuel said.. 'It should be good. This is what I do for a living!' Manuel is a chef by trade.. a master of French and Swiss cuisine.

Not long after our sweet indulgence it was time for bed. We needed a good nights sleep for we had yet another big day ahead of us..

The Alps!
