Banging Bangkok

We arrived in Saturday night after a 11 hour haul from Heathrow - not the best conditions to arrive into a city like Bangkok! From the start we were running the gauntlet past pestering tuk-tuk & taxi drivers, street traders, tailors, gem sellers & everybody else selling something or someone...
We stayed on the Khao San Road but this was not the best idea as it can only be described as 'backpacker-central' (we soon realised we're not cut out for this & upgraded our status to 'flashpacker') where everything & anything is for sale amidst the stench of varying food-vendors, fermenting sewerage & additional dirt - in fact, there is certainly an opening in the market here for the likes of 'cillit bang' as most of the city could do with a good scrub!
However, our accommodation (D&D Inn) on Khao San Road provided some respite to the busy & bustling city so we spent a few days by the pool recovering from jet-lag & acclimatising to the heat (30+C), humidity, environment & our new way of life - travelling. We also visited some tourist sights, markets & shopping centres where the retail therapy at Bangkok prices certainly helped :)
Can't wait to get to Koh Samui though - lets hope it lives up to our expectations.
