Today we got up at a normal time.  We had to get packed and ready to go.  The ladies at the ranch had done our laundry the day before and hung it on the line.  Unfortunately, not allt  of the clothes had dried the night before.  So, we had to go get the clothes we wanted to wear in the morning off of the clothes line.  Even when we were ready to leave, not all of the clothes were dry.  So, we had to pack a few wet clothes.  It was no big deal.  We thought it was very nice of the ladies to do our laundry for us (and we had a lot).

We got packed and had our 2nd day of a simple breakfast (buscuits, cereal, yogurt).  We had a few minutes to talk with Enrique and Martina and say our goodbyes.  Then Angie showed up.   We took Angie's car and one of the taxis back to Salta.  It was a little cramped, but we made it just fine.  We went into the city to the museum of Archeology.  Angie took our luggage and went to get the larger van and we went to the museum.

The museum was very interesting.  It was not too large, but it gave you a glimps into the culture of the people that had lived in the Adies over 700 years ago.  The highlight of the musuem is the children.  There are 3 mummies of children who were sacrificed to the nearby volcano.  The story is quite sad, and the lifestyle of the people seemed very barbaric.  It was still fascinating to see the mummies.  They are said to be some of the best preserved in the world.

It was so sad because the children were left in the volcano to freeze to death.  They were still alive when they were left at the top of the mountain.  Each of the mummies were huddled like they were trying to keep warm.  Two of the mummies were girls/young women and one was a boy.  Only one mummy is on display at any time, but there are pictures of all 3 in the museum.

Once we were finished at the museum, we went and had ice cream and waited for Angie and the driver.  When they arrived, we were in the car and off to Tilcara.
