Many people ask me about Josephine. They want to know how she is growing up. If she smiles. Some want to know about her health. Others ask about the first signs that might betray her character. However, everyone asks me if I miss her. Naturally the answer is yes. I miss Marianne and Josephine most.

Next Friday I will pick them up at Dulles International Airport. Marianne and Josephine will stay in Washington for almost four weeks. Together we will depart for Amsterdam in the last week of August. I look forward to showing them around the East Coast. Or sharing good food together, since I've had enough of eating alone in restaurants.

Enclosed are some pictures of Josephine. The ones in the pretty white dress were made at wedding on June 28. Some were may just after she was born: even then she had an air of cleverness that the nurses noted. The others were sent to me by Marianne. I like the one where she wears het beach outfit. It was made in Spain. If Marianne has her way, Josephine will grow up by the beach and spend as much time on the sand as is humanly possible...

My next blog will not be written as a student or researcher, but as a father!
