Bryan's girlfriend Liddy kindly offers to look after our animals for the week, and also ferry us to the airport on Friday afternoon.

The flight is uneventful. The stopover in Lima is short, and we remain on the same plane. It's a five-hour flight to Lima, and then an additional four hours to Buenos Aires. We have arranged a private car (remise) transfer from Ezeiza to the hotel for the paltry sum of US$ 16.00. It's nice to arrive at a strange airport and find someone waiting for you with your name on a board.

In minutes we were taken to our car and commence our drive into the city. Ezeiza Airport is located 35 kms from the city center. Fortunately due to our early arrival, and it being a Saturday, we were not delayed by traffic, and were soon exiting the motorway onto the magnificent Avenida 9 de Julio, claiming to be the widest urban thoroughfare in the world. We pass by the impressive white obelisk and enter the narrow streets of central Buenos Aires, the "Microcentro".

Our hotel, the Frossard, is a modest elderly four-floor building in classic Parisian style. On the ground floor is a diminutive lift, similar to the one we used in Paris last year. We pack it with our luggage and walk up one floor to the reception. We are expected, and in spite of the early hour, are assigned rooms right away.
