What a great trip. We loved Mendoza and now we were back in B.A. We now have too much luggage for a regular taxi, so we are obliged to take a "remise" just like the one we took from the airport. It sunk us a staggering US$ 5.50 for four persons and a pile of luggage. We almost felt like giving the driver another US$ 5.00 as a tip, but we controlled our emotions and gave him US$ 2.00 (which he was most happy with).

Today is Cecilia's day. It's Shopping Day. As if every day hasn't been shopping day!

We had "done" Galerias Pacifico and Florida, now we want to try where the Porteņos go, the district called "Once". We take the underground there and exit at the huge shopping complex built where the old wholesale market used to be located (like Covent Garden, London and Les Halles, Paris). Called "Mercado de Abastos", this mall had been described as "impersonal and noisy" compared to Galerias Pacifico. Impersonal and noisy it was, but it was what the doctor ordered for us, as it was immense, lots of variety, better prices than Galerias Pacifico, and a food court to die for, from gourmet restaurants to hot dogs, and everything in between, even a kosher McDonalds, which we were told was the only one outside of Israel.

This evening we decided to attend a performance at the theatre. There are innumerable theatres along Corrientes Avenue, and the choice was dizzying. We eventually decided on "The Graduate". It was a very entertaining piece, based on the film with Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. At one point, Mrs. Robinson walks out on the stage totally naked, much to the dismay of Benjamin, and the shock of the audience. Mum tries to cover Bryan's eyes, but is a bit too late.

Cost of this Broadway style production, US$ 10.50 each in a private box.
