Arriving at the airport I ask Miryam where she put the envelope with our initial $500.00 spending money. "Don't you have it?" she says. Oops! What a way to start the holiday! I rush to the nearest ATM and extract $ 200.00 (the maximum permitted) from my bank account and a $ 200.00 advance from my VISA account. Thank goodness for technology.  Whatever would we have done in the olden days?

Flight on Lufthansa to Rome via Frankfurt . The flight is totally full and the only seats available are in smoking. The sooner all airlines convert to no smoking the better, and this from an ex-smoker. To have to sit in smoking and not be a smoker is like a trip to Hell! The Frankfurt/Rome flight no problem. Surprise, the seat pitch is far wider on intraeuropean flights than on transatlantic flights.
