We wait about 30 minutes for our rooms to be ready and then we rested for a good hour, which we all needed to freshen up for the day. We had a lovely breakfast on the next block from our hotel and everything was delicious. Some of us even ordered dessert with lunch!
Then, we were off. Of course we had to alter our itinerary, but we were out until 8:50PM tonight, so it was a super long day for us. The kids learned how the metro system works and they really got the hang of it by the end of the night
We walked a lot today to get a real feel of the city. We walked through the business district, where new architecture mixes with 18th century buildings, very similar to what one would see in Paris. We made a stop at the Cathedrale Marie-Reine-du-Monde, which is a 1/3 scale of St. Peter`s in Rome. The inside was beautiful. It was like stepping back in time. I can`t wait for them to see Notre Dame tomorrow!
We continued on to the Planetarium and saw a program about the night sky. We saw stars, planets, constellations, comets, etc. Then we continued on our walking tour of Vieux Montreal (Old Montreal), passing many interesting buildings including Montreal`s World Trade Center. Walking down Rue Saint Paul, you`d swear you were in Paris. The street had the same feel with little bistros and gift shops. We did some souvenir shopping and had our reservation for dinner at Crepe Suzette. The majority of us had crepes for dinner and chocolate fondue for dessert...mmmmmm (Mikayla bought some flavored crickets, yes crickets and a few of them sampled them at our dinner table...to much of my dismay! (See the photos & video!)
Following dinner, we walked a little more and got back on the metro to return to the hotel. It was a great day, the kids are in the pool as we speak. The hotel is just lovely, everything we thought it would be and more! I can`t wait to hit that sleep dial bed tonight!
Check back tomorrow night for more photos and video!
