Well I am back in Bangkok. This is the last day of my journey. I arrived yesterday evening from Krabi. No adventures on the ride back to Krabi from Ko Lanta. I did have extra time and stopped at a newly opened outlet mall. Did not buy anything tough.
My hotel is huge and apparently the online agency that I booked my room with never made the reservation. The other reservations were fine. If it does not come through today I will have to pay and then get my money back from the travel company. This hotel is huge. It has 650 rooms. Not as nice as Center Point but half the price and it is quite fine. There are 4 restaurants here I think and a cabaret show. The skytrain connects right to the hotel. I just don't like big hotels like this but it was convenient for my last day and shopping.
I bought some things last night at a leather goods store across the street. They have beautiful purses and wallets made out of stingray hide. Of course I'll probably read something awful about that later on but they are gorgeous. delivery from the tailor and started packing. I am about to head out to do some sightseeing and shopping. I don't know how I am going to manage this extra luggage on my own from JFK to the train. Not a problem here. everyone waits on you here. I learned in Ko Lanta that the Swedish government subsidizes one parent to stay home for a year after the birth of a child. Many of the families go to Thailand beach areas and settle mom and th kids in and dad goes back to Sweden visiting on holidays. Thailand has definitely been added to my short list of places to spend part of retirement due to high quality of medical care and low cost of living.
I will post the pictures when I get home. More thumbnails ...
