A driving day today which sounds pretty boring, but when it is in NZ, we don't think there is such a thing as a boring drive. We left Queenstown and only got 20kms before K was poking around a NZ fur boot shop in Arrowtown – how many pairs of fur boots can you buy?  The drive up between Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawai was spectacular all the way, although some of the mountain passes were a bit hairy given the recent flooding, landslides and our previous late night.

We finally docked at Lake Paringa and as coastal conditions made sea fishing impossible M applied his master sea fishing technique to a lake and caught a creepy looking eel which was very quickly put back.  Yet again the idyllic lake setting was spoilt by the man eating sabre toothed sandflys which seem to be following us round the island.

We had an amusing hour with some Norwegian travellers who were trying to spot all their constellations as they are inverted in the southern hemisphere - K saved the day with her tablet and google sky maps.
