So after a very filling breakfast (Smorgasbord - think Chef from the Muppets) and an early checkout, we arrived at the Volvo Delivery Center in the heart of Volvo Ville. We were saddend to find out, along with 19 of our closest other delivery friends, that Volvo had made a slight snafu. They managed to not have all of our license plates delivered, thus in short; we cannot have our cars today. For us you see this is not really a problem since are plans are wide open and we had even discussed staying another day in Gothenburg...but for many others, their entire trip plans were thrown into disarray. Volvo quickly reminded the situation by giving loaner cars to all those that wanted them for the rest of their trips (thus they would not drive their own cars at all) or they offered to put the rest of us up in another (5 Star!) hotel for the night and would bring us back the next day to finish up with the cars...Needless to say I am typing this right now at Hotel Elite Gothenburg right on the Avenyn and enjoying every second of our room that is even nicer than the one from yesterday...

So after a quick lunch and very elongated factory tour we headed back to the delivery center to get a view and test drive of my new car. The rep went over everything with us, and although I was a little saddened that I would not be driving off today because of two missing red Swedish license plates, I was happy none-the-less to take the car for a test drive on their "closed track" (basically an enclosed road that went for about 200 yards). I was so excited to be driving this new car that I even let Ashley drive (she has driven stick once since she was 16). This car's clutch is a joke...I don't even think my dad could manage to stall the thing (and if you're wondering, no Ashley did not stall at all).

So after a test drive we headed back to Gothenburg to our new hotel. After checking out our new digs we headed outside to (GASP...) enjoy the sun. YES, the sun had come out so we took full advantage by sitting atop the steps of the Goingsplaten looking down over Poseidon and the Avenyn for a few hours, taking in the rays.

After relaxing for a few hours we took a long walk around town since Ash had yet to see much of it. We made our way back through the Hage (old town) through the University area and over to the Linne' district before heading back toward the Avenyn. We found a nice Indonesian restaurant for some (relatively) cheap eats and then headed back to the hotel where we enjoyed the evening sipping on some Hot Chocolate (no peppermint schnapps Kohlmann) in the hotel café looking out onto the Avenyn.

Tomorrow we will actually (cross your fingers!) get the car and head out to Stromstad and camping on the Koster Islands a few hours to the north of here...

Until next time:
Catch ya on the flip side,
