So on the Metro I found signs for a Chocolate expo happening this weekend and thought what a great thing for Nessa and I to do together, especially after her horrible evening last night where she had already O.D.ed on chocolate. So we did go, and boy did we have fun. We got to taste all different types of Chocolate and even some chocolate liqueur (not so great) and some dessert wines, however what did us in for the day was the chocolate covered fruit kabob, OMG. We saw artwork painted with chocolate, sculptures made of chocolate, even skateboards and dresses. There was a stage in the middle of the expo center where they had shows on everything from South American music to whole body chocolate massages to music where two people gave someone a massage that really looked like a dance, it was a very interesting look into their culture. In different parts of the expo there were chocolate cooking shows, some photography exhibits and the Ivory Coast had an exhibit on how they grow and make chocolate while entertaining us with some African music. However after hitting about half of the stands and getting many samples in addition to the kabob and having chocolate cereal for breakfast (bad idea, wasn't thinking) we both were so stuffed to the point of almost getting sick. We should have paid attention to the locals who had a baguette sandwich or Croque Monsieur about half way in, so they had some real food in their stomachs, though I can't imagine how they fit all that food in their stomachs, because they were definitely hitting up more of the stands than we did and finishing all of their samples. So we decided to leave without buying anything else because we were so full, and after making use of the free restrooms (a rarity in Europe) we just started to walk around outside. We were looking for a good place to eat that wasn't that expensive, but I was also trying to wait a while because I was soooo full. So we just walked for a while and went into a monoprix to just look around and this place had almost everything, including a movie theatre, but I wanted to walk some more so we kept going until we got to the next metro stop where there were about 3 restaurants to choose from. Next came the problem that I had been dreading for a little while, how does going into a restaurant work? Well we first decided to eat at this one outdoor place and we just sat down, but nobody was eating so we felt very uncomfortable and decided to try one of the other places (good thing too because about 20 minutes later it rained). So we decided on this place across the street from the metro and watched as a couple went in and found their own seats and we followed suit. The drink menu was just given to us, and we ordered something girly, but we had to ask for the food menu (again really no one was eating at about 7pm and hr. later the place became very crowded). We both decided to get some type of tartines and it came with a salad, they also brought over a carif of water and it was chilled (which is more than I can say for my daiquiri) and when our drinks came out they even gave us a small plate of tortilla chips and salsa. We had a blast just eating and talking on our girl's night out.
