Where I stayed
See you all very soon
Hello, the count down has begun. I only have 2 days left before heading back to blessed America. :) although right now I cant complain, since I'm on a magical island only accessible by boat or a really long trek (think 1/2 a day). My friend Ahmet has a friend whose family has owned a pension in this village for over 200 years, the islands' claim to fame is the castle on the top which is a ruin from ancient Simena, a city inhabited by the Lycians in 1000 BC. We arrived by motorboat last night and we had the place to ourselves. We ate a delicious dinner sitting on a terrace overlooking the sea, we ate fish, eggplant and homemade bread called bazlama made on an open fire by the local village women clad in their Yemeni. I walked up to the castle at sunset and again had the place to myself since the rest of the island was eating their first meal of the day due to the country's final week of Ramadan. Today we will take a glimpse of the sunken city across the bay from the motorboat and head east towards the Turkish Mount Olympus then on to Cappadocia. Tomorrow I spend my last night in Istanbul and will write more from there.
