Slovenia is beautiful. This country has exceeded our expectations. The scenary is wonderful, the air is clean and the people are friendly and welcoming (also multi-lingual). Even the plain cloths policemen who drove past us at over 150kph then decided to pull us over were friendly (eventually). Over 7000 kms in six different countries in a minivan that people have never seen before and think it was made in the seventies, I thought being stopped by police only once so far was good going. The fact that I flashed them for dangerous driving might also have something to do with it. After all I think they were just curious to where we and the van are from (maybe from Macedonia heading to the good fortunes of Europe). We have met so many people because of the van -  especially the red Isle of Man number plate.

Unfortunately the weather forced us to cut our time in Slovenia shorter than planned, however we plan to return sooner or later. We spent the rainy days at spa centres before checking into a hotel so i was guarenteed a TV to watch the champions league final.

The last couple of weeks have been spent travelling through Croatia from the lovely coastal towns of Istria to the breathtaking national parks. When travelling through this part of our trip you tend to find yourself imagining what some of these people went through during the homeland war. This usually happens when driving through the small villages and you see houses riddled with bullet holes or even collapsed roofs. You ask yourself have these home owners just never returned or was they the unlucky ones during the war. The minefields are also reminders and are to this day still being cleared. It can be a little surreal when driving on a coutry lane and you see signs on both sides indicating "danger minefields" and then occassionally you see a shrine to someone who maybe wandered into the fields after the war had ended. Thirty minutes later you can then find yourself in Croatias number one destination Plitvicka lakes (national park). This place is paradise, huge waterfalls, cascades, crystal clear water and tourists from all corners of the globe. So far Croatia is a great place to be, the only thing i'm wondering is if there are any Germans left in their country as every second car is from Germany.

At the moment we are back in Birmingham due to a member of family being ill (well thats our excuse, nothing to do with the final of The Apprentice or the Euro finals ............come on Croatia!!!)

We will be re-united with Banksy on Saturday
