A quick travel log.... If you find yourself driving through from Northern Italy to Germany, don't blink or you may miss Austria. Literally 30 miles wide at its western end, going south to north on the freeway in west Austria only takes 30 minutes...

Anyway, after spending the last few weeks in the smoldering heat, we picked the highest peak in the west Austrian Alps and decided to camp on top to get some sense of a cool breeze. We found ourselves at the top of a maintenance road overlooking the area around Innsbruck. We had a 180 degree view of the valley from our tent; no one around... except a few deer.

Beautiful, clean, and striking, the Austrian alps are just like you'd picture the Austrian Alps: High, jagged peaks based by dark green hills. We only stayed one night... and this was our last night of camping for a few weeks - next stop: Prague - entry point to Eastern Europe!
