Well everybody Mick (and Elvis) have left the building and the rest of Vegas behind.

I am now in Fernie in the Canadian Rockies.

As always the time in Vegas was very hectic and I think after 4-5 days in the city it is enough time to stay before you need to go away and rest up. I was disappointed I didn't have a step counter on as I walked up and down the strip that many time my feet were hurting by the end of it all. For the several other days since my last entry I spent my time weaving in and out of the various casinos. On my second last night I headed across to Luxor (next door to where I was staying) and saw a comedian called Carrot Top. His show is fairly crude and uses alot of props, so I enjoyed it. I only booked the ticket about an hour and a half before the show and being on my own I was able to get the last single front row seat.
On my last night I caught up with some friends from back home Noel and Adel Lancey. I had organsied to meet them at 7pm at Treasure Island which I now know is about 5km from where I was staying so due to the traffic I ended up getting there late. We went looking for somewhere to eat and after wanderering through a few casinos we finally stopped at one the real Vegas traditions - the casino buffet. The meal is pretty much all you can eat so we had a relatively cheap quality meal with various options. After dinner we head out to watch the erupting volcano outside the Mirage and then down to the dancing fountains outside of the Bellagio. After this I made my own way back to Excalibur where I was staying played a few hands of cards and then went back to the room to pack.
My finally day in Vegas was used running around buying a few things I need to buy before checking out and getting across to the airport. I flew out for Calgary late in the afternoon and as has been the case on this trip we were delayed by 30 minutes when taking off.
The only thing I missed doing in Vegas was heading up to old downtown and seeing the light show but I am sure this won't be the last time I am in this town so I sure I'll see it one day.

So after getting into Calgary late  my old mate Simon Lewis was waiting to pick me up and head to his home in Fernie. We finally got to Fernie at about 1am after a 3 hour drive. My first full day in Fernie (yesterday) was spent out side in the sun. Simon had brought a seoncd house a few months back and had just built a new fence around it so we spent the morning staining the fence before going for a drive in the afternoon to a alpine lake and having a swim. We got home and cooked up a BBQ before Simon's better half, Heather got home from work. After dinner we played abit of ladder gold (a.k.a Montana Golf) and were visited by an old uni buddy of ours Sam "Sambo" Ervin and his girlfriend Krista.
The rest of the night was spent sitting on the back porch having a few drinks and relaxing.
This morning we are heading off across the border to Idaho for the weekend so I hopefully drop a small message from there.

Hope everybody is doing good and I hear from you soon.

Mick

I also can't believe that it has been 1 year and 5 months since I was there and you were there last!!

Say Hi to Simon and Heather for me, be sure to go hard down the Curry bowl and enjoy a breakfast at the blue tuk for me. (Even though it should be called the blue beanie!!!!)
