Welcome to our travel blog. Hopefully this site is easy for you to navigate and view our updates. Our plan is to update this blog as often as possible during our journey to Vietnam to pick up Anelise. She is currently located at an orphanage in Soc Trang province, south of Ho Chi Minh City. We are a little over a week away from the start of our trip. The crib is up and all of the medications for the trip (wow that was a long list), have been purchased. Visas were ordered and hopefully will arrive before we depart next week. Travel plans will take us to Chicago, Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City (henceforth known in this blog as Saigon), Hanoi, then back to Tokyo, Chicago and then home. The list of items we were told to bring is huge, I think I may need a cargo plane versus a passenger plane just for the gear. But it will all be well worth it in the end. We are thrilled to finally get the little girl we have sought for over two years. Her first and middle name are Anelise Xuan. The name is a mix of German and Vietnamese. Go figure. We are truly a mixed bag of nuts here. Let the adventure begin!

Happy! (reply) Dec 8, 2008 21:02 EST by downeyn
Lan, Robert, and Harrison, I'm so happy for you! Anelise Xuan looks like she's been part of your family forever. What a great name, too! I have a thing about three-syllable girls' names, in case you didn't know;) It also looks like I might have some clothes for you... let me know when you want them and I'll bring them right over when you get back. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy and may the rest of you... show all
