Hamelin Pool is in the World Heritage site of Shark Bay and the stromatolites are the oldest living organism's in the world which provide's the Earth's atmosphere with Oxygen.

There is a lot of info on the interweb that I can copy and paste but unless you're a geologist then it may not be of much interest to you but the site to see the stroma's was a beautiful thing especially in the clear blue water and it is fascinating to think they have been supporting the world for billions of years.
