This is a little late admittedly but however I had to write a special for the Malay food delights that I sampled when I was in KL.

The national dishes being nasi lemak (rice cooked in coconut milk) and roti canai both of which I tried and were pretty damn good and which one day I will try and replicate.

On the night I went to see the fireflies, we were initially taken to a seafood restaurant where we weren't too sure what exactly we were having when it was cooked however it was very clear what we were having in the tanks when they were alive and as you can see from the picture the crab met its ending on my plate...but he didn't taste that good. Strange considering I quite like crab.

There were some more risque potentials to be eaten such as garlic frog and fish heads which I must say I had to pass as I didn't think either were suitable for my palate.

The big M...that being McDonald's was somewhat disappointing and I felt they burger's and chicken were KFC rip off's. I may be being harsh as I don't think anything in a McD's can top the Chicken Maharaja Mac (oh god how I love thee) However the sachets of creamers and sugar came in handy for my hostel where I had free coffee and tea on tap. 

I had previously head of the Durian fruit before heading to KL which is apparently 'the king of fruits' and I think it deserves the title. It definitely does have a distinct smell and taste...however to explain the taste is somewhat difficult. My opinion is that the aftertaste of the durian is sweeter than actually eating the durian itself and the texture is like a custard apple for those that have had that before. 

The best though and reason for the late entry is that I need to recommend a great food tour which was the last thing that I did on my trip to Malaysia which was a food tour which is run by 3 local guys that are looking to show tourists off the beaten track by taking you to local restaurants and eating amazing dishes. Sam took me and a couple around to try the best duck and fish I have ever tasted, then took us to a local food market where we picked up our desserts and saw the man in the video below with his fish and also went out for a drink in changat bintang which is the area in which both locals and tourists all go out for a drink and a night out. I would wholly recommend people going on this tour if you want something a little different.
