We have finally arrived at Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand.
After a brief but hectic time in Bangkok we have decided to take a day of rest to regather ourselves for the second leg of our journey.
Today is the first day we have encountered rain so it gives us a time to catch up with a few unfinished chores including some blogging.
We flew into Bangkok from Phnom Penh and stayed 3 days.
On first impressions Bangkok was noisy and smoggy.
The hotel that we stayed in was very nice with a panaromic view of the city.
Day 1 saw us going on a day trip to the Floating Markets and the Rose Garden for some Thai cultural appreciation Cultural Dancing
Cultural Dancing
. Saw some elephants at work and a presentation of some traditional Thai Boxing and dancing. The floating markets, through winding canals was very interesting and at the end we were 'attacked' by people selling their wares.
Day 2 saw us take a trip to the Bridge on the River Kwai and the Tiger Temple. This was a dreat day. Saw cemetery and Museum as well as the bridge.
The Tiger temple was brilliant. Walking with the tigers patting their bellies...great time.
Home to the hotel at rush hour is rather an oxymoron.. should be described as 'stop' hour.
Chiang Mai - we arrived on a flight from Bangkok and checked into the hotel. Went for a long walk around the old fort area looking at anciet temples and then followed up with a hectic night market... Karon is in her element.. has even learnt the ancient art of batering... or is that battering!
Love to all... hope you are all well and enjoying sharing our experiences
