Monterey & Carmel: Early start where we met Kathleen (The Supreme Being) our tour guide in the lobby and the rest of the group on our tour. There were 5 Malaysians, 4 Germans, 2 Austrians, the driver, & the Supreme Being. We flew by private jet to Monterey where we were greeted by a bus that took us to Monterey wharf. We were surprised by how cold it was despite Luke's constant warning that "It’ll be cold"! We picked up some great jackets with Monterey logos embossed and they are reversible which is a bonus. The real bonus was that they only cost $20, cool or should I say warm!

Whale watching was a bit of a dud. We saw a number of grey whales but didn’t get very close. A number of the tour members got sea sick but fortunately they went to the back of the boat and went “for distance” with their up and unders.

Went for a bus ride along 17 Mile beach. Lavish houses and arrived at Pebble Beach God club or is that Golf club. Very spectacular coastline with birds and seals, the odd deer.

We stopped then at Carmel-by-the-Sea where Clint Eastwood was once Mayor. Apparently he took on the job because when he went to live there he found that his wife couldn't walk along the street in high heels and carry drinks or eat ice-cream on the footpath or something just as important??

We looked around the shops and then walked down to the beach. It reminded us very much of home. The township was quaint just like being in Montville and the beach was lovely just like Mooloolaba.  Dinner was nice until Karon found a hair in her mashed potato. The waiter seemed to think it was part of the carrot. No, "I’m sorry". That was the most disappointing interaction we have had with the locals. Other than that have found the people we have met really happy and friendly.

Stayed that night in the Hyatt where they have a lovely golf course but unfortunately no time for a round.
