So it's the evening before my departure, and I should certainly be doing more important things than making this entry (like making caramel apples, passing out tiny M&M packets, or watching a monster movie), but here I am. Having spent almost two months planning this trip, I certainly should be prepared, and I am (almost). I've got my vaccinations up to date and my anti-malaria pills at the ready. I have my passport, guidebook, water purifier, medical kit, mosquito net, lightweight/quick-drying clothing, and all sorts of other exciting items ready to stuff into my carry-on sized backpack (18 lbs packed).
I'm trying to prepare mentally for the sixteen hour flight to Taipei! This will be followed by a blink-and-you'll-miss-it (relatively) four hour flight to Bangkok. All that sitting will hopefully make arriving at one in the morning in a city half a world away from home more relieving then nerve wracking.
Hope you enjoy these little updates of mine. Check back again soon, and let me know what you think.
I'll be putting some photos here, but if you want to see more, you can check out my Flickr account too.

WOW - Andrew
I really love reading about your journey and looking at the beautiful pictures. Thailand looks amazing and the people seem really friendly. You've been very lucky to meet such nice people. Whether you realize it or not, you're taking me (and others who are following you)on this trip with you, and seeing this country through your eyes and words is amazing. You do a great job of telling your story. I look forward to your next update. Please keep safe! Love, Ory
