i came back to post my photos today, but a large part of the draw into this internet cafe right now is the fact that it's air conditioned in here! if i complain this much about the heat now, you don't want to come back to check my blog in a month from now when we're in thailand during the beginning of the hotttt season.

anyway, jess is presently holed up in our hotel room with a sprained ankle (from 2 days ago when we were climbing on rocks around the elephant waterfall during the last bit of our motorcycle tour).. or maybe she's stepped out now to wander around for a bit. don't worry, she's okay!

in the meantime, i took a 40-minute walk in the blistering heat to cho lon, the city's chinatown, where i am now. it is from here that my grandmother's brother, wife, and their 8 kids left their one room flat during the mass hoa (chinese) exodus in 1979, a journey that took them by boat away from the country. they now reside in london, england.

i think i'll take the bus back!
