This tour brought back in to perspective how lucky we are back in the UK to have the things we have and the minimum wage.
Yesterday the group went on a Reality Tour, this entailed a trip to the local market which had everything that you could possibly cook, here we bought pens, paper, puzzles and a football for our next stop which was a pre school centre. This pre school centre is run entirely on donations, the children are between 3 and 5, they come here whilst their parents (of whom are poor) go to work or try to find work. The children seemed very happy to see us and sang lots of songs to us and we (the group) also sung English songs to them. In my opinion the centre is very well run, gain many donations and seems a happy place to be. After this, we went to a quarry, in the quarry people work on making bricks out of stone, they do this all by hand and only get 5 soles (£1.25) per brick that they make (they cannot sell them until they have made a minimum of 200)!
