The flight itself was uneventful and I was very happy to be sitting beside a very beautiful Mexican woman on her way home. She was lovely to sit beside. Just enuf chattage, not too much and not too loud. Unlike the bloody COWS from Texas sitting behind us! Good Lord! I couldn't handle listening to their bloody twang any longer and succumbed to watching the in flight movie - which I'm happy to say was finally NOT Oceans 13!
Once Kath was sorted we then inquired as to our beggage. Can you believe that we had to actually collect our bags from our Vancouver flight and then go back to check-in at Dallas airport and recheck our bags and go through security AGAIN on a bloody transiting flight. We DETEST American Airlines!
We were very thirsty girls after that! We went to a lovely restaurant that we had seen along the way a few days earlier, and had a couple of bevvies to cool us down and assist in our plan of attack for our 3 hour layover. Needless to say we toasted to not having to travel with American Airlines for the duration of our journey SEVERAL times!
My MP3 player cacked it the night before we left Sydney so we decided to go and fetch me an IPod. Do you know they sell them out of vending machines similar to the candy bar machines? Plop your credit card in; select E3 for Ipod and the little spiral arm turns around and drops your new toy down into the tray below for collection. What will they think of next? Much to my dismay, the machine was completely depleted. No IPod's, no Nano's and no Mini's. Not happy Jan! The only place in Terminal D at Dallas airport where one could purchase an IPod was this bloody machine.
So we decided to go and drown our sorrows at the Irish pub in Terminal D - Turgins, I believe was the name. We had a lovely waiter - Barry (whom I mistakenly called Bruce at one point). Fortuitously we found a Rugby World Cup schedule and discovered that the All Blacks are playing on Saturday morning at 7am in Ontario! LKJ most pleased. I believe we toasted that several times, as well as pilfered the schedule from our table menu.
At this point we also decided that given it was my birthday in Australia, that it would be apporpriate for me to open my Birthday card from our friend, Jennifer Mary (aka AO) who was organised enuf to give me the card the night prior to our departure for reading on my birthday. She cleverly snuck $20 Canadian in it! Well done her! Most impressed by the effort!
By the time we finished our meal and boarded our plane, we were in most pleasant spirits. :)
Bring on Toronto!
