Howdy Folks,

I'm still here on the farm in Rakaia ... happy as a pig in shit!

I am still spinning like a mad-man, still driving the fork lift and doing my farmer thang!
Did some sheep moving the other day ... sheep are amazingly easy to move! Andi it turns out that I have a practical use for my amazing whistling abilities. It was like I was meant to be a shepard.

As of yesterday we have a new addition to the farm .... a wee little baby calf born Sunday morning. Margaret and I had to go into one of the cow paddocks to get mum and calf ... a bit scary considering cows and big-ass-mother-fuckers, and none of them were "dehorned" as calfs. Margaret assures me though that we'll be "right" armed with our little whip sticks. Now, most of the cows in there are harmless, however .... there is this one little bastard .... he's a baby steed (nuetered bull) about 9 months old ... very playfull ... not so fun when for us non-cows though considering he's about 2 tons and has little horns. So Margaret and I walk in there, I'm praying that cows can't smell fear. We round up mum and get her to go over to the baby so we can take her out to get milked. This gets the little steed bastared all ralled up and he comes running over to get in on the action. I start thinking how a good rush of adrenaline will ease the pain of hoping a barbed wire fence. Margaret, luckily, is fearless to cows (even little bull calfs who have thrown at least one of her full grown sons over the fence) as she grew up on a dairy farm and gives him a couple quick switches on the nose with her stick and he backed off. Crisis averted.

So, we proceed to get the little girl on her feet and walked her and mum out in to the yarn and into another area to get milked. Very cool. And, I got to name the new little heffer .... Lulu.

Lets see ... other than that I've just been spinning and knitting. Life definately does not get better than this!
