The location of this entry is Mineola, Long Island because that is where Winthrop hospital--the location where my dad, just had open heart surgery. That was Monday... today is Saturday and we just brought him home to my brother and sister-in-law's house down the road a bit.
Modern medicine (and I know they've been doing this for a long time already, but its my first exposure) and the cardiac bypass procedure is absolutely amazing. It seems like a heart surgery mill, in fact. At 5 am a bunch of folks between 50 and 80 go in, get their veins harvested from their legs and they all come out on the other end with new cardiac arteries. About 4 days later, they pop out of their hospital rooms, ready to go home. Anyway, it was amazing to me. So we spent a lot of time keeping my dad company in the hospital, with a side trip to NYC on the train to see the Guggenheim....
Now my dad (and mom--who will take care of him, even when he's grumpy) gets to do the work of recovering, staying active by walking around the neighborhood and appreciating how lucky and healthy he is. ...As we all should if we can say the same for ourselves.
We will leave NY by the end of August and are due back in Victoria for about a week until we can get on our delayed flight to Delhi. We've missed the summer and monsoons in India, but also the opportunity to go to an area that will be snowed in by Sept. 15th. We're just very happy that everything worked out okay back here.
Look for us later in September from India...

Hi!
Lauren, you got plenty of practice making lemonade in Riverside! So glad to know your dad is doing well.
Have a safe send off on your journey, looking forward to the updates.
