We arrived at the Suvarnabhumi airport via Tiger Airways. It was our first time on a budget airline. All was good. The landing of the plane at Bangkok was surprisingly smooth, no jerky movements or whatsoever. We were tired and slept throughout our journey on the plane. The Thailand airport is huge. Unfortunately, not too well-organised. We thought it to be a little messy. We went to the airport basement to enquire about the airport shuttle to our hotel. The price sounded reasonable. But we wanted abit of a comfort and chose to take the public Taxi instead. We were haggling over the price with a guy who first stopped us before we even reached the taxi stand. We told him we wanted to go by meter and he agreed. But! He said the charge was 600BHT. So we asked again, could we go by meter? "Yes, yes meter. 600BHT." My boyfriend looked at me, and i dont know why but i just said okay. We werent familiar with the taxi rates and 600BHT sounded alright at that point of time. Turn out that it would have been halved if we'd gone by the meter. His taxi wasnt parked by the roadside. We had to follow him and walk a distance to a car park to get to his cab. And, off we went to Siam City Hotel pronounced as 'See-Arm' City.

The exterior of the hotel didnt look too fantastic. But upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome by the doorman who was looking so happy to receive us, as if he expected and looking forward to our arrival. The check-in staff wasnt as amiable as the door people. However, check-in was smooth and we were surprise they gave us a room at 9 in the morning, Bangkok time. We requested for high floor but was only given a 6th floor. But, we were happy enough that they gave us a room at such an early time. We couldn really have asked for more.

The room was splendid. The layout of the room was very good. We were very happy with our hotel room and were full of praises for it from the moment we stepped into our room. The bathroom had a separate bathtub and shower area that had a glass door. The bathing amentities were good too. The shower gel was made of Lotus and fragrant. The TV was a plasma and provided many channels, but we only watched the ESPN sports channel. The bed was comfortable, of medium hardness.

The location of the hotel was good enough for us. We were glad that the location wasnt exactly central as traffic in Bangkok gives you a bit of a problem sometimes. Think noise and all. The walk to Phaya Thai BTS from our hotel was less than 10minutes! Siam City is only 2 stops away! We went to the malls there to shop and shop and eat and shop! Malls we visited were Platinum, MBK, Siam Discovery Centre, Paragon. We thought MBK had lotsa food but Paragon had more! The Paragon mall in Bangkok is somewhat like the Takashimaya in Singapore, lotsa food in the basement. We regretted that we discovered it only during our last day there where we had not too much money to spend anymore.

The hotel really made a difference in our days in Bangkok. The lovely doorman albeit whose job is only to open doors was the one who made our day everytime! His genuine smile and helpful gestures made us feel welcome. We took a picture with him on our last day. There was another one who was even more warm. It's a pity he wasnt working on our last day. We took a tuk tuk on our last day just to experience being on it. Nothing spectacular. Noisy and lots of dirty and smelly smoke we had to breathe in throughout the ride. We only wanted a picture with it in case we dont see it anymore in a couple or five years time to come. We were kind of overcharged. Apparently, these tuk tuk drivers didnt like to go to hotels that's why the charge is more if your destination is a hotel. They preferred hanging around shopping hot spots.

We watched 'ping-pong' show on our second day. The driver drove us in a Mercedes-Benz (Dear was taken aback by the luxury) and brought us to a secluded place. I was a little scared at first. We paid a thousand baht each (expensive!) and were brought up a flight of stairs and into a big room that had a stage with four poles and women dancing. The women did lotsa trick with their uhm vaginas. E.g. pulling out blades from inside their vaginas. I wonder how they did that. The last was a man and a woman making out. Ya, the guy really penetrated the woman. It was my first time seeing this kind of live naked show. It was an experience.

Oh, and how can i forget our romantic river cruise on our first night. We had buffet dinner in a candlelight style. The spread was delicious! I like the curry duck the most! The ambience was perfect and we had good views of Bangkok night scene! We thoroughly enjoyed our river cruise which was an unplanned celebration for our 26th month together. Happy 2 yrs and 2 months my dear! Looking forward to many more years to come. I love you!=)

So, we did mostly shopping during our trip. We tried the Lotus Spa at the hotel. We did the Avatar Massage in a couple room. The massage was our first time too! Lotsa first time here. It was good but i feel overpriced. You can always get a better value-for-money massage elsewhere. Maybe ask the concierge or do your research. This short getaway was pretty rejuvenating for me. But, i'm kind of suffering from my usual post vacation blues again! Well, thinking and writing about our trip did make me feel a tad better. My poor dear is back at work. Poor thing. He was feeling lazy on a Monday morning just after our trip. We took about 300 pictures. I'll develop them all soon.

Ciao, till our next holiday!
