On February 8th, Adam arrived at Bangkok and we began a two week trip with him. Sorry its been so long since we wrote our last entry, but we have been moving fast. We checked in to the Peninsula Hotel, known as one of the finest hotels in the world (we are now on a 'firm retreat') and were pampered for two days as we prepared to leave for luang prabang laos. The Peninsula was over the top fantastic. Our two nights and one day in bkk were great. During the day, Andrea enjoyed the spa, while Andrew introduced Adam to the wonders of bangkok including the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Jim Thompson's house. The Grand Palace is the former residence of the king and has an outstanding temple adjacent. Wat Pho is another of Thailand's most famous temples. Jim Thompson was an American silk trader (aka sweatshop owner) who built a gorgeous thai style house, filed it with priceless antiques and then mysteriously disappeared in the jungles of Asia thirty or so years ago. His house was donated to Thailand and is now a museum of sorts.
