Not really much else to report apart from the fact that we did manage to go on a pretty cool snorkelling trip to a couple of sites near Mnemba island which was just down the east side, one of which was exceedingly choppy in our little boat. I was going to stay out of the water for that one, but when the boat started lurching side to side very worryingly I decided I'd be much better off in the water snorkelling ! I was pleased in the end though because there were loads more interesting fish & coral there, the only downside was there were also loads of jellyfish to, so after the 3rd person had screamed out after getting stung (no wetsuits to protect us) I decided to head for the boat pretty sharpish !
When the call to the beach proved too strong we headed up on a minibus to this village at the top of the island, where the beaches were amazing & there were loads of places to stay - especially because it was low season. Herdy then spent at least an hour in the blazing sunshine walking up and down finding the best place in town for us to stay (I was fancying somewhere clean which didn't involve a 10 minute walk to the toilet in the middle of the night by this point!), while I had the really tough job of looking after the rucksacks...!? Anyway, he found a blinder which was basically closed to the outside world (it was about 2-3 weeks before high season started) but really nice and accepting walk-ins. So, I settled myself in a sunlounger (in between the thunderstorms) and tried to finally finish War and Peace, which I was still ploughing my way through.
