The town itself was pretty nice, but it was clear that we were there well out of season when we were searching for a place to eat and ended up only finding about 2 out of at least 20 restaurants open ! We were the only tourists of any description we saw, there didn´t even seem to be any South American folk on holiday.
Anyway, we headed out for some really lovely walks to the nearby country park right down on the coast to see the massive beach and massive rock headlands coated in lovely flowers, trees and grasslands. There was also some wildlife, especially down near the sea where in a pond next to the car park, we saw a family of turtles and an aligator ! You kind of expect to see them in the Amazon, but it was a bit unnerving to see it about 10 metres away when we were on a path going right past it instead of safely on a boat...
As I mentioned on an earlier entry we did get broken into while staying here. We got back from dinner and after a chat with the owners, headed upstairs to find the bathroom window and balcony door had both been forced open... Luckily we only had both mobile phones and Herdy´s camera stolen, it could have been a lot worse with passports, mp3 players and cash all stashed in the room as well.
