Finally found the sunshine !!

Our travels then took us to another island, this one called Isla do Mel. It was just off the coast about 350 miles south west of Rio. The sun started to come out while we were there and we spent two or three really relaxing days walking all around the island exploring. It has some really spectacular beaches and was a lot more isolated than the last island we went to with Elio, there was no internet or mobile phone signal here at all.
We then got a cloudy day so made a snap decision to head back to the mainland and down to Florianopolis for the weekend as its a bit of a party place, well known in Brazil. We had a great few days here too, genuinely basking in the sunshine and being entertained by people watching on the beach ... One in particular was fabulously entertaining, with all the rich young Brazilians strutting their stuff - girls not wearing the biggest bikini´s in the world and boys strutting around...
One particularly entertaining moment was with a couple with their young son playing next to the sea. She was very young and sporting fairly extraordinary breast implants which were threatening to burst out of the bikini (which to be fair was funny enough in itself)... Anyway, she was with her son when he accidently knocked her sunglasses out of her hand before they were promptly bashed into the beach by one of the many huge waves and disappeared out of sight. We could then see her burst into tears as her husband went to give her a consolitary hug before she proceed to have an arm waving style tantrum her 6 year old son would have been well proud of, fabulous !!
Anyway, a real highlight on the same afternoon was a visit to probably the most spectacular beach I´ve ever been to. We were taken there by a really friendly Brazilian girl who was sat behind us on the beach (she showed us the best place to buy beer!) who´d been backpacking herself and (rightly) loved showing off her favourite place in Brazil - just north of Mole beach, which is near Lagoa de Conceicao (in case anyone is heading there). There was no road access to it, just a walk down the coast over rocks and sandunes. The weather was spectacular too, as a storm had blown over the beach and was in full flow over the sea, we could see loads of lightning and rain out over the water.
We took a load of photo´s during our time here, but unfortunately lost them all when our room was broken into the following week and Herdy´s camera stolen...
