Lake Titicaca and a different kind of Copacabana
Trip Start Jul 20, 2005
30Trip End Nov 23, 2005
First stop was Copacabana on Lake Titicaca, the highest lake in the world (not sure what definition of lake they use, but the fact we were struggling for breath meant we weren´t going to argue!), at about 3000m. As a result of that, it was therefore a long, long way off the head of its warmer, sunnier counterpart in Rio, although when the sun came out and the wind dropped (mmm, maybe for a total of 3 hours in the couple of days we were there!), it was pretty nice.
Here we met up with Steve, a guy Simona and Caz met in Arequipa (and his newly found two Aussie mates), who we then had fun travelling with for the next couple of weeks.
Herdy and I had a nice long walk along the coast on one day, followed by a big outing together the following day, a boat trip from Copacabana to Isla del Sol, reputed to be the birthplace of the Inca civilisation - also thankfully a lovely place to spend a few hours walking around.
From here it was a short bus journey to Le Paz, Bolivia´s capital city...
