July 1st

Today;
We awoke (me and my mother) at 7:30 in the morning. We did not get "a good sleep" as we did the day before, we woke up quite a few times and went to bed later resulting in less sleep overall.
We did not practise karate today. For breakfast I ate a kiwi, a banana, a bowl of cherios, a glass of orange juice and a cup of morning tea.
Last night I went to bed feeling awfully sick. I had a head ache, a sore stomach and developed a sore throat. This morning I was able to lessen the pain of swallowing by drinking water. I took a vitamin pill and some vitamin D supplements in hopes of getting better. I felt perpetually tired threw out the day but hopefully this is from jet lag and not a symptom.
After breakfast we walked to Alfred Park, near the art museum. It's a gorgeous park with lush grass and healthy old trees. There are lots of statues and a gazebo as well as well tended flower gardens.
The art museum is split into two parts. The old museum and the New museum. The old museum was closed for the day, so we were directed to the New Museum. They had a new exhibit on display depicting stranded whales. It was pretty gruesome. There was also a modern art sculpture made out of plastic and other recyclable materials that you can find around your home or that you would throw out, like a small garbage bin, some metal dish drying trays and a small sweeping brush with it's pail. Another piece of art that stuck out to me was a portrait of two girls in a swamp. They were soaking wet and they were still in their school uniforms. The water was very murky and the trees were visible trough a dim light. Down in the left hand corner was a third girl. Shew as floating in the river with her eyes closed, as if dead. She was out of focus, unlike the two girls before her. Other art that was displayed includes newspaper headlines, a print of a police riot at Christ Church (it's the name of a town in New Zealand's South Island), and three overhead pictures of a very modern band that plays wind pipes, almost like the blue man group.
We then went down to queens street and took the free bus around, just to see were it went and if it passed any good tourist sites. It travels in a continuous loop and didn't pass anything we hadn't already seen, like the University campus and the Sky Tower.
At Westfield mall we met up with one of Audry's friends Barbie and ate lunch. She gave us a bunch of maps to help us navigate both the North Island and the south.
By this time it was two in the afternoon and me and my mom decided to go to Kelly Carlton to see the underwater exhibit. We took a shuttle at 4 and entered at 5. I got a student discount. We got to see penguins and sting rays and sharks galore.

That's all for today, hopefully I'll feel a little bit better by tomorrow.
