What was the 28th now the 29th,
Departure was the hardest part of leaving Canada. Being parted from all your friends creates a painful welt in your soul. Other then that the flight was made well by Gravol :p That gravol really works! I didn't "regurgitate my food" once while on the plane ride to vancouver or on the take off to New Zealand. It's too early to say that I won't on the way down, but a day (24 hours) would have passed enabling me to take more oh so ummmmy ginger gravol. I'm going to really dislike gravol after this trip :p but it's my saviour. Gum is also very useful. We are eating it like there's no tomorrow and it helps alleviate the air pressure difference felt during take-off and landing.
I find that I love to watch out the cabin windows as we are taking of or landing. Watching the land tilt and rush away as the plane accelerates toward lift off, feeling the planes nose rise and the aircraft gaining lift, there is something very amazing about mans ability to fly that captivates me. Up here in the sky you see everything from a new vantage point, fields houses cities and town look like Lego that you could move by sheer will power. The clouds lose their 2d appearance as you weave in and out letting them envelope you in their wet white mist. The clouds are now 3D and have no imagined form, they do not "look like a rabbit", they look like misshapen cotton candy without the pink tint.
Being on a plane for so long your legs start to get sore. The layover from out of our first flight helped get the circulation going...until we had to re enter another plane that would take us to New Zealand. My Grandfather and his girlfriend are also coming to New Zealand. They will be participating in the same things as we are but they won't always be staying with us. Us being my mother and me.
Though every flight is different there are a few things that remain the same.
so over all I think my fight to New Zealand has been a success. I did not vomit and I slept for 10 hours. I know that when we land I'll have to stay awake for a more hours before I can go to sleep. We'll be arriving at 5 in the morning. Ah well, the Secret Life of Bees is turning out to be a good book. There's not much about bees, it's more about a young girl trying to survive in the 60's? Some time when slaves were still kept and white's killed black's for sport.
Landing, oh the landing. It wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't need to pee. There was no way out because the halls were clogged with people. Eventually we escaped the air plane and got some bladder relief. The experience was made worse by the fact that I though I had lost my fathers LED flash light. But I found it once I had emptied my bag in our hotel room. We are staying in a hotel called the Oak. It's really nice, by my standards, and I'll put up some pictures to show you. It's raining in New Zealand and the weather's quite cold, not unlike our autumn. We took a cab to our hotel, that cost us 50$ for the four of us (me, my mom, grandpa and Audry).
To get back on topic, the room. We are situated in G11 a two bedroom apartment for 4 days, in downtown Auckland. We have a kitchen, a bathroom, two bedrooms, and an open area we are calling the living room. The kitchen is comprised of a stove which is over the dish washer, a microwave which is over the fridge, a sink with little counter space which is all surrounded by white cupboards. The bathroom has a two in one washer and dryer, next to this is a sink located under a mirror, to the right of this is the toilet and next to the toilet is the shower. It is all very nice, new and clean. We have a t.v and a DVD player as well as abundant power outlets and a Ethernet ports in both bedrooms and the living room. I will try to get onto the internet sometime this week but it costs 5$ for one hour and 15$ for a whole day to use the Internet, so I'll write letters on the laptop first and copy them into blog, e-mail or other :p For my second breakfast I ate an egg and ham sandwich.
We haven't done much, trying to adapt to the time difference and all. We went on a walk. Originally we were going to go to the port/peer but then we got lost and gave up on that idea after getting sidetracked into a tea house. After a dark chocolate mocha we went to the tourist burrow. Once there we found bus tours for tomorrow and planed how we would see Auckland during the three days that we are staying here. Then we walked down to Queens st. and window shopped. Ok, I'm tired this has been one of the longest days of my life and it's only 6p.m! 5 am - 6 pm that's 13 hours...I usually use 15 hours being awake during a day...fine I'll go to bed at 8. YUPEE! I can't wait until I can shower and brush my teeth. This evening, being sunday, all the shops closed early. This would have been fine had it not been for the fact that all the restaurants closed at five as well. We almost stared on our first day here! Luckily we found a quicky mart that sold Greek food on the side, like sukvaki petas ect. I hope you never have to go through that while travelling. It's some scary shit.
that's all I got for now.
Miss you all lots

There are computers for every chair so you can watch tones of movies. You don't have to pick and choose between the two or three that they show you on a big screen you get to decide based on a wide variety of movies from different genres. It doesn't stop there, you can play games on some planes, watch t/v shows and some other interesting things I had no time to explore. I spend most of the flight sleeping. Remote controls can be found in your arm rest. so over all I think my fight to New Zealand has been a success. I did not vomit and I slept for 10 hours. The price of gas is something like 182 cents per litter here. Gas isn't the only thing that costs a mint, all the food is pricey too. We went out shopping for breakfast and maybe lunch and bought bread, meat, juice, tuna ect. and it cost us another 50$. We forgot to get some mayo for the tuna, and some sugar for the oat meal. And we didn't find any rice cakes for my mom, who can't eat wheat. All the food we bought was wheat based so...mom's in trouble until we can find a major super market close to us.To get back on topic, the room. The first breakfast was at 5 in the morning on the plane, I ate fruits with a muffin, yogurt and orange juice. The dinner meal on the plane was chicken in paste with some kind of tomato sauce served with a bean potato salad, whole wheat bun with cheese and butter and a little strawberry moose cake that had a black cake base. Sorry my ideas are a little scattered :p We haven't done much, trying to adapt to the time difference and all. We went on a walk. Hey You
No silly things don't cost a mint in new zealand. Here take a look: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_dollar
They have a different currency so things only appear to cost more. It was like I went to Hong Kong and was shocked that the bus ride to my friends house was 35 dollars!!! Anywho, I'm glad you didn't get sick on the plane cause I remember you got sick on that boat in Boston, I don't know I have this ability to spontaneously pop my ears without gum or even opening my mouth nor do I get sick so plane rides are a ball for me. I always found clouds to be pretty 3D from the ground as well, just kinda in a different way, you know when you are watching clouds go by you can see the different layers of clouds with different thickness and different textures. Ok I got to go with some friends to watch the fireworks downtown tonight, so I won't be able to watch them with you like last year*sigh*
Have Fun!!
