I arrived in Chicago- the home of the White Sox, Cibs, Sears Tower, Oprah, Jerry Springer, Whacker St, Navy Pier, Michigan ave and who can forget The Streeter 13th floor- with its pool, spa, steam room, entertainment room and business center with free starbucks coffee available all day!

I arrived after my plane was delayed for over an hour hence l arrived pretty late and taking over 45 minutes to catch the subway downtown l was soon surrounded by the usual homeless, drunk and out spoken people that fill the subway at midnight! I then caught a cab to the apartment and got talking to the Nigerian cab driver about the goods and bads of life in America for him- a very interesting conversation! I finally made it to The Streeter skyscraper where l was greeted by my Australian friends Jas and Lorz with a welcome balloon! I could hardly contain my excitement, it was so strange seeing friends from home after being away for 9 months- and after so much and myself has changed so much Lorz and l by fountain in Chicago

! We stayed of course up until 3.30am talking, catching up and sharing funny travel stories.

We slept in until the afternoon (bliss!) and then spent the afternoon walking down the famous shopping ave Michigan ave, catching the free shopping trolley around downtown and midtown shopping streets: Visiting the very girly and strange American Girl Company where was saw dolls getting their hair done at the hairdressers, visiting the hospital if they were injured and eating at the restaurant in highchairs next to their look alike owners! It was all very strange and excessive! They had a popular Emily doll but she didn't look anything like me so l resisted buying her! JK! We then went and got lunch at a bakery and chatted away and then visited Jamba Juice and walked down along Lake Michigan and the beach with our fruit smoothies in the hot afternoon heat. That evening l taught Jas and Lorz how to make Risotto and we then made our way down to Navy Pier- a carnival like pier where we played mini-golf and after a disastrous number of holes on my part (my camera dropping into the pond on the 13th hole being one of them!) l got a hole in one on the 14th hole! Steve left us and we continued to the swing ride where l laughed myself sick and felt rather nauseas afterwards...Jas and Lorz were worried to take me on the harmless ferris wheel after the events of the night! But we went on and enjoyed the views over the lights and sky scrappers of Chicago's downtown.

Day 2
The following day we slept in again (more bliss!) and went walking along the beautiful blue Chicago river and Michigan ave and stopped for lunch where l had a great soup eatable bread bowl. We then headed to Millennium park and to a cool mirror glove where we watched wedding photos taking place and made funny reflections in the globe No idea...do u remember Lorza
No idea...do u remember Lorza
. We then watched the cute kids running under the water spurting out of a projected images mouth on a tower which when opened its mouth would squirt water out...is a great fun idea! We then headed back to the apartment where we made very fluffy omelette's and sunbaked by the pool on the 13th floor. It was strange sun baking in the middle of a city CBD surrounded by skyscrapers and therefore hundreds of eyes watching you that you don't know about! We played ¨Don't make me laugh¨ that evening which would have to be funniest board game that l had played in quite awhile! The funniest part of the night would have to be Steve pollinating the flowers and doing a rap off with me about Risotto! My mouth still hurts from laughing so much!

Day 3
We slept in again (BLISS BLISS BLISS) and just cruised around the city and bought our Greyhound tickets, visited borders bookshop and my camera magically started working again after the camera repair man had tapped it three times and said ¨no good, need new one!¨and l had even tried to pawn it at the local pawn shop- they would have been surprised as an hour later it magically started working. However all my photos from Chicago and New York had been lost....stupid mini put put pond! But in the end l was pretty lucky and l always have my memories!

We then met Robyn and the Meredith's friend Cathy back at the apartment and had left over risotto and pasta for dinner whilst we listened to their funny stories from their trip to NY. We stayed up and talked until 11pm and then caught a cab to Chicago Greyhound station, checked in our luggage and boarded the buys for a 12 hr bus trip via London and Detroit to Toronto Canada. It wasn't as bad a trip as l though as l soon fell asleep on the three seats on the back of the bus with my  blow up pillow, sleeping bag, eye mask and earplugs on....never say lam not prepared!

I had a fun relaxing and blissful time in Chicago thanks to the hospitality of my amazing friends...thanks guys!!!
