One fine Saturday l spent the day catching panoramic trains past boats sailing on crystal clear La Leman, soaring Alps with sprinklings of snow remaining on their tops to Gruyere- Switzerland's cheese and chocolate making capital. Where l witnessed a marching band, boys dressed in lederhosen and as Monks parading through the medieval town surrounded by stunning green countryside and Alps. The setting in Gruyere is stunning, the Chateau was lovely and the Gruyere cheese factory fascinating. I now have a new found appreciation of cows and the amount of water and grass they have to drink and eat to produce a small amount of cheese! Gruyere is definitely a must if you want to see the real Switzerland and sample cheese and chocolate all day at the factories and l highly recommend taking the Panoramic Express train there and then onto lovely adventure capital of Switzerland Interlaken as l did. I travelled past on the train watching people swim, sun bake, BBQ and cruise on the lovely Interlaken lake and a spent two hours wandering around the town and along the lake before it was time to head home again via Zurich. Today was simply another day in stunning Switzerland!
