I first visited the beautiful village of St Saphorin to spend a night listening to singing waiters at the superb Auburge L'Onde which is owned by the grandparents of the mother that l work for. Having recieved 3 stars this year (the most you can get is 4) it is now one of the top restaurants in Switzerland having only been open for two years. Its a beautiful restaurant which since my first night there l have visited often with the family to sample suburb cheeses and wines in the cellar, eat breakfast one the way to Verbier in the salon and fondue in the fondue cellar on the way back from Verbier one cold winters night and to simply spend time in the beautiful village.

One Thursday afternoon Laurence drove me to the village (where she works at the restaurant on Thursdays doing event management) and l explored the tiny alleyways, little church with brillant acoustics and walked to the top of the hill to see the supurb views over the surrounding vineyards to Montreux, across Lac Leman and back to Lausanne. Sitting on the bench at the lookout l felt like l was in paradise on that cold winters day.

Returning only yesterday to the same bench this time with Chloe in toe l felt like l said my goodbye to Switzerland from that lookout point and to the beautiful Lac Leman that l have grown to love so much. It was the day of the cival ceremony of marriage for Sandra and Olivier (Laurences brother) and the lac was the most amazing colour l had seen it yet, sort of a pale green colour sparkling in the sun. Me and Chloe rested up on the bench where for once she was quite (having been a handful the entire day) and l sat and remembered all the memories and experience l have had in Switzerland and l said goodbye. Chloe who is very into stealing my camera at the moment took it down into the now green and blossoming vineyard below us and l got her to take some photos of me....she did really well for a two year old! We then returned to the Auberge stopping by the church on the way and singing with Chloe in it as she loves the echo, and then returning to the wedding party. I will return next Saturday for the actual wedding ceremony (though they are all ready offically married, in Switzerland they have a cival ceremony and if they want it a church ceremony so that there marriage is recognised by the church and suprisingly they do not have bridesmaids or groomsmen!) and afternoon tea which will be held above the tiny village church in a beautiful garden overlooking the lake and village and then it will be onto a reception at a mansion of course!! Iam attending the society wedding of the year in Lausanne...whilst being in charge of 15 children!

The lovely lakeside town of Vevey home to the Nestle chocolate factory was a short hour walk from St Saphorin. I visited it one Thursday afternoon from the village, walked around the pretty town with a gelati in hand and beside the lac where there were many people sitting in the sun beside the many seafood sculptures. A lovely afternoon off once again beside Lac Leman!
