Long Car Journeys and Beautiful Bays

No sooner back from one road trip and a long weekend in Sydney, and we're off on a long road trip to Byron Bay to check out another university for Kate. Pearlie and Meg took a few days off work (God bless them) to drive us up there, to save us money, and we were very grateful, bankruptcy setting in and all that.

01. I love green eggs and ham!

We got up at the unearthly time of 3am, to miss the Sydney traffic, but must not complain as I dosed happily in the back all the way there. We arrived in Byron, a few coffees and a good (not really) 14 hours later. I think Australia's sheer size can just overwhelm a man from such a tiny little island, as well as the fact you don't really see anybody on the way, caus our populations about triple theres!!!!

02. Our Humble Abode

Byron we wanted to see to give us viable comparisons of living with Melbourne, as we want to stick it out down under for another couple of years. The place is backpacker heaving, as well as a fair amount of surfers and hippies, and is pretty laid backed. Byron is on the most easterly point in Australia, and has stunning beaches, and big waves, what else could a person want. If you head out at night, there's a fair amount of music, and plenty of partying backpackers, me and Kate are of course way to old for that, and sat in with a cup of tea (skinny milk of course) and a couple of rich tea biscuits.

We spent a couple of days shopping, and drinking coffee, and soaking it all up, as well as visiting Lismore (40mins away), which is where the campus for the university was. We split the journey up on the way back over two days and topped down the coast at a very pretty campsite in Urunga.
