We left amritser, first thing in the morning, took a 3 hour train, followed by a 4 hour bus journey, and made it with allot of luck. Mum just in case your glad we're on trains now, India railways have the most collisions in the world every year. The journey up through the Mountains to Dharamsala on a very crowded bus was a little emotional, due the drivers death wish, but very scenic.

Dharamsala, or a little town up the moutain called McLoud Ganj is the home of the Dala Lama, and thousands of Tibetan Refugees, and from the first time we stepped of the bus looked across the himalayas, walked up the street with no hastle, i think we both knew that we were gonna be here for a while. lots of meditation centres, yoga etc, and lots of westerners and monks, and generally a relaxed feeling. so basically we've spent allot of the time eating, and drinking tea, occasional chats with people, and just having a good time. that was untill we decided to book a hike up into the mountains starting tommorow, should be cold, i think we're going up the ridge, sleeping in caves and stuff. no on-sweet bathroom, no sweat. so your hear from us monday, don't worry, i think we're do all the worrying.

other highlights include jeff bridges sitting behind us in our hotel sun deck, apparently the fav haunt of richard gere (the excitment!). then we went to a sligtly posher hotel (trust me not posh at all), for our 3 year anversary. so long ago, student bar, bogof, lay ins. also brought some warm hippy clothing, for the mountains.

things are good

any messages keeping us up to date are really apprciated, and we trying to reply to them on here as well.

keep well

to the trawlers
guys, you are so brave! I have been reading your escapades all this time, hand in mouth, perched at the edge of my seat and with feverish anticipation and baited breath awaiting each new instalment! It's better than Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings combined! That is until I remember you are real people and start really worrying. Still. You seem to be in good spirits and soldering on despite all the nibbling rodents. And the rats are scary too. ;)

Glad you have found an oasis of calm and of occasional celebrity now. Hope you rest and recuperate well there, and I am sure you will enjoy your mountain trek, it's going to be awesome! (bit jealous now)

We are well here, although a bit frantic at times as can be expected this time of year. Anna has already organised the Xmas do, and it;s not going to be the same at all without Kate. :(
Although I am having to dig out my xmas badge already as the stupid shops have already put puddings and whatnot on display. (grr)

So good luck and happy anniversary and hope it gets much much more enjoyable but you DID want to go backpacking around the world you know :)

Oh yes, am very distressed with the jaguars in zoo story and hurray for Kate for championing worthy cause (although hope she didn't put self in danger)

lots of love and take care

All is well at home
Friday night close to midnight here on 21/10, can't sleep, so good time to hit the travelpod to get an update and send emails.
It was great to hear from you by Phone last Monday..
Mum walked in 2 minutes after call ended, she was gutted but understood...she was really happy that all is well.
Photos look brilliant, I am doing my best to keep saving them, but as they are downloads, the size is small and if you enlarge the quality goes....any suggestions ? do you want me to keep saving them ?
House build is going well in Aruba and should be ready for late Dec or early Jan, we will be flying out for a couple of weeks at that time to get ready for renting.
Hurricanes seem to be the island thankfully !
Nan & Grandad were chuffed to bits to read all the travelpod entries, they sat at the PC for ages, it really made THEM happy.
We are meeting up with Lee & Donna for dinner on Monday night with the older people of course (Lee's idea which was nice) nothing fancy, it should be really pleasant and relaxing.
Donna's evidence at court went ok this week.
Anyway, don't want to go on too much....stay in touch.

Love Dad

Re: to the trawlers
Hey there Dij!
Nice to hear from you, I thought you might still hate me for going! Still I recon 'ManKate' must have surpased me by now :) Life here is good, we got back from the trek yesterday in complete agony and both a stone lighter! Went out and had beers and dinner to undo all the good we had done!
Glad to know you are doing well and glad the badge is out in force! Good luck with work try not to get too stressed and if it all gets to much you can always go and make another coffee ;)
take care and maybe see you in Oz!
Kate :) xx

poor kate!! and what a view!!!
Hi again! You are so lucky to be able to have those experiences, so whats a sore botty and a purple nose between friends!
I'm proper jealous really, and I'm sure that I couldn't have made it up that mountain for all the climbing and hiking I've been doing on holidays.

Mankate is doing fine, doesn't drink coffee and goes out for lunch every day, so very different to the girlkate ;) (Do not hate you kate, don't be daft). It's actually funny as I am sure I get to speak to you more now than when you were here.

Your diary entries (both of you) are always very interesting, so please keep up the good work because, believe it or not, we are not bored reading them at all. In fact, it's a nice diversion from tons of work some of us got on our plate. Just count your blessings that you are not stuck in the office and say hi to snow leopards if you see any. :)

cute shephard dog btw - love all the pics, they are fab.

take care
