SOLD! My loyal steed has changed hands. Shifty was sold to a British couple hopefully returning to Canada. I now rely on local transport, waiting for the next bus, delays, cluster of people and my crammed full 80 L pack. I am quickly learning not to be a packrat. Top 10 things a backpacker could use:
1. Good boots 2. toothbrush 3. guide book 4. only 2 sets of clothes 5. lock 6. flashlight or candles 7. guide book 8. bank and credit cards 9. sturdy bag 10. most important - valid passport!

Significant names of Argentina:
Jose de San Martin (1778-1850) Crushed spain and liberated Chile and Argentina and assisted Peru.
Eva Évita´Duarte (1919-52) 2nd wife of president Juan Peron charmed and influenced human social rights of the people, buried in the famous Cemetario de Recoleta.
Che Guevara (1928 - 67) Che (hey you) legendary revolutionary born in Rosario, Argentina. Assisted Fidel Castro 1959 and other Latin American countries.
Diego Maradona (1960 - ) Boca´s futbol superstar finished his career with a controversial English defeat in 1986.
Carlos Gardel (1887 - 1935) Tango songbird of Buenos aires. Suave!

After one week in Buenos Aires I need to give my liver a rest. Sunset Disco´s 3 bar , techno-salsa-foam party atmosphere is amazing! I arrived by Buquebus Ferry $35 US in the 17th century - Portuguese contraband city of Colonia, Uruguay. Strategic port and fortress on the Rio de la Platat is a UNESCO World Culture Heritage Site. The locals party all night, super friendly and offer beers and mattes. Everywhere the people carry pumpkin shell cups full of local ´coffee´ and a thermos of hot water for refills.

A nice walkway to the condemmed Plaza de Torro followes freshwater beaches where families gather and sit in lawn chairs socializing. Downtown/Centro is petrified wood streets and cobblestones, preserved brick building and Colonia Rock pub with lots of local music and ever-popular Beatles cover tunes.
