After 1 hour of 1st gear traffic and 3 horns later I made it to downtown Manhattan. New York is massive. Towering building that cast long shadows. They are so compressed on the island that they can only build up - even the car parking is done with lifts. James and his girl Jill (both from Alberta) take me out for dinner and get me orientated to the New York culture. 9PM dinner normal. 09:30 AM Start work too. The city is BUSY. Non-stop traffic, my premiere yellow cab ride is funny. They can work a 24 hrs shift!! That's stress. Hundreds of new people everywhere and the restaurants are packed. People watching could occupy me for days. Mike Myers was out for drinks too, James has a good eye for celebrities. No - I didn't give him my autograph. They are a few more travellers from Alberta in town so the 6 of us meet up at the White Horse Tavern for beers. Be warned New York is expensive and Chelsea district is flamin.
