It was raining, cool and windy as we entered the port of Lisbon and the downpour continued throughout the day. The city is very hilly with cobblestone streets and sidewalks. Slippery too, I found out rather quickly when walking (more like climbing) toward the city center. I think I got there but admittedly it was pretty miserable. I donned my cycling rain parka, but not the rain pants. Jeans were soaked after three hours of hoofing the streets. Took a few photos during lulls in the rain, and ducked into some shops but in the final analysis it seemed most sensible to return to the comfort of the ship and dry out. Lots of folks signed on for tours by bus. It will be interesting to know how they fared as the visibility was not good. We leave this evening for La Coruna, Spain with arrival scheduled for 7 AM on the 10th.

Colonel Chell B. Uhl on

Hi David: I've been across the Lisbon A6 Autostrada Bridge. Our car broke down on it and we had to be towed to a garage. What a terrible experience that was! Chell
