Where I stayed
The first problem materialized unexpectedly when the boxed bike, that fit perfectly in my van, would just not fit the larger Hotel van due to fixed, non-adjustable seats and head rests. Try as we may, it would not go in at whatever angle we tried. Then one of those "Lady Luck" moments happened. Seeing the look of disappointment on my face, the driver slapped his forehead - much like one of those old I could have had a V-8 commercials and said "I've got it, we'll take my car. wait here and I'll get it." I am certain my look changed to one of incredulity as he soon drove up in a little Honda Element. I am shaking my head indicating my thought that no way would that bike box fit in that little bugger. But fit it did after he pulled a couple of levers. I expressed eternal gratitude to my Savior driver, one Orlando Hernandez from Honduras. I hope my expressions of such were adequate both in heartfelt thanks and material reward. Crisis averted, all thanks to this big- hearted man
Once inside the Port all went smoothly. I turned all the luggage over to the porters and it showed up in my cabin soon after I had done the boarding formalities. Security is in evidence ...not unlike the airline version. I noticed that the bike box had been inspected by K-9 sniffers. All the luggage is scanned and the human cargo is also scanned.
Anyhow, all's well and we departed on schedule at 7 PM. I made some cool movies of the departure but they refuse to upload from my camera to computer so I will just add the still photos.
