Sick of how overly priced Brighton is on the weekends, some of us from York House decided to take a day trip into London. So much fun! I am convinced that no matter how many times you go to London, you can always discover new things about the city. We took the train in from Falmer, and started out at the National Gallery. The museums were free so we covered a lot of ground and got to see a lot of really incredible artwork (including Monet and Van Goh which was pretty cool...that sunflower painting looks so much more impressive in person than it does in pictures.) Then we went off to Buckingham Palace and from there went to Portobello Road where we spent the majority of our time...and money. Portobello Road is absolutely amazing...full of antique shops and boutiques (and really good really cheap ethnic food places- we had Lebanese for dinner.) They also had a farmer's market and live musicians which was pretty cool. After we were completely shopped out (don't worry mom and dad I'm not broke- but I FINALLY FOUND BOOTS and they weren't expensive!), we headed back to Piccadilly Circus (which is like the Times Square of London.) Fun Fact: Apparently Piccadilly had lighted/video ads on buildings before New York City's Times Square did
The week in review: so Tuesday was kind of a rough day, but ended up being a really fun night. A bunch of us decided to go to King and Queen for kareoke (which was really fun) and as we were leaving ran into a club promoter who ended up going to the same uni as Amanda (they both went to UNC.) Long story short, he got us all into the very popular club Digital for free (we got to skip the line, didn't have to pay the entry fee and got free drinks so basically we got to be VIP and it was awesome.) On Thursday I hung out with the Brits (it's funny cuz so far all of my British friends are pre-med...definately not the usual artsy kids...but they are amazing) and we all went into Brighton for Chinese food which was really fun too. This place had a chocolate fountain too.

. So basically, we took a lot of pictures, had a very cultural experience, and it was really fun to switch it up for the weekend.
