Every day in Africa has a different twist. I could write a novel about just today. This is the story
We decided to do a big ride today, it took 12 hours.
I had 2 flat tyres today they were both interesting.
The first flat tyre was in the middle of no where all of the locals came to have a look. There was a big nail in the middle of the tyre. I had a great time laughing with this one guy he tried helping but we were to busy taking the piss out of each other. All good.
This guy was so pissed he was dribbling, about as pissed as i would be after drinking a bottle of whiskey my self. He decided he would help fixing my second flat tyre. We were outside a bank in the main street of this town. What a circus.
This pissed guy told me he was a pneumatic engineer, and i had to pay for his good service. I told him that i was a teacher and he was the learner and in fact he must pay me for the lesson in motorcycle puncture repair because “user pays”
More dribbling and ranting from the really pissed guy and he left. I sorted the bike and he was back wanting money foe the good service, i had to take the piss and we rode off.
The ride was great today. Customs etc was great into Tanzania. When i brought insurance (more toilet paper) there was screaming and shouting outside the office, about 100 people had this one guy who was trying to rip someone of , the police showed up and took him away.
The road climbed up to 2300 meters and was 15 degrees, then down to 1100 meters ans was 37 degrees. Then to 1900 meters where it is now 18 degrees. A good day
This Cop pulled me up for doing 95 ks in a 50 zone. (it was more like 105 ks) I told him it that was impossible because to do that speed as the bikes are overloaded and very slow. It was going to cost 40000 shillings each.. after all of the “I am a poor New Zealander” Dave gave him some peanuts and all of a sudden “you are free to go” all good.
Cheers Miles
