Where I stayed
What I did
Today we woke up at 7 AM to go see some waterfalls on Cebu Island. The drive to the first waterfall was 2 hours from our hotel. We would drive up a mountain on Cebu Island, through the forest seeing some incredible views. The first place we stopped was Mantayupan Falls. There, it was a short walk to get to the main fall. There were a couple waterfalls. They were incredibly beautiful. When we got to the main waterfall, we hopped in and swam. The bottom was super rocky, so we swam into deep water. My dad and I tried to swim close to the fall, but the current was too strong. Also, once we got close, we literally couldn't breathe because of so much mist. I actually made it within 20 feet from the waterfall.
After swimming there, we went to the other smaller fall. I didn’t swim there; instead, I went to see the pet monkey the family that owns the property has. I ended up feeding him a banana, and I don’t know how well fed he was because he literally jumped for it. A lot of people have pet monkeys, and they chain them up and build a little house. He did have a good harness though so I don’t think it hurts him. It was fun watching him swing around. After we were done at that waterfall, we went to the next one.
The next destination was Kawasan Falls, a waterfall an hour south of Mantapuyan Falls. When we got there, we were bombarded with people saying they’d guide us. We didn’t want one, as this is common in these countries, people taking your money for literally walking beside you up a mountain, but just so we would be left alone we said ok. We walked up the mountain until we got to the first waterfall. It was small, and there were people swimming, but we wanted to go see the bigger ones. The second one was bigger, but we kept going up the sketchy mountain trail. Eventually, we got to the source, the cleanest water, clean enough to drink. We stayed there for a while, then left.
After getting to the bottom, we started to drive back to Lapu Lapu. It was a 3 hour drive back, and the whole time I just sat there. When we got back, after what seemed like a never ending drive, I relaxed and went to bed. Thanks for reading.
