The first two days in Beijing has been sunny and around 90F but not humid like Shanghai.

Imperial Palace
Today we spent most of the day at the Imperial Palace (Forbidden City). Mimi got the audio map. It gives a description of you are seeing along and indication of where you are on the map. I wasn't going to get one but Mimi said it was good so I got one. It was 10 rmb for the Chinese version and 40 rmb for the English version.

She was getting audio all the time but I got very little. It took it back but they said the audio starts at different times between the Chinese and English version. It seems that the English version was missing a lot.

Vicky - Tom Cruise's personal translator
I met Vicky on the internet before the trip. She has been living in Beijing for about 3.5 years and we had dinner with her. It was very enjoyable and we shared interesting stories. She is from Gibraltar and worked as a TV reported for China's CCTV and has had various other interesting jobs in China. One of which was being Tom Cruise's private translator during the filming of Mission Impossible 3. She also taught him the Chinese he used in the movie. You can find her web page by clicking here.
