Huang Shan is near the area where Mimi's farther was sent during the Cultural Revolution. He was a university professor and sent to the countryside to be "re-educated", learn the peasant life and study Mao's quotations.
Once he became sick and Mimi had to go out there to help him recover. She was only 12 at the time and had to take care of her sick farther. After he recovered, she went back to Shanghai. Later Mimi's sister was sent to be with her farther because her mother could not take care of the two girls and work at the same time. Mimi's sister also had to learn the peasant life and was told to pull carrots from the ground. However the carrots were too big for a 2 year old to get out of the ground.
Anyway, the last few days were very interesting and I hope update this later with more pictures, videos, and stories. More thumbnails ...
