Lhasa at last.
We arrived in Chengdu late last night around midnight. The increase air presser crushed our empty water bottles when we came down from elevation. We should have arrived in Chengdu around 5:00 pm but we had car problems. Mimi negotiated compensation for the car and other problems during the overland trip. The negotiations are a story in itself. Maybe sometime we'll post more details We took an early morning flight to Lhasa. I saw some high mountains above the clouds in the distance. It was about the right direction and distance for Mount Everest so maybe I saw it! Mimi gets information every time we go to a new place. Often three people talk at the same time. They continue to talk even when I'm talking to Mimi. This is very annoying and gives Mimi a lot of stress.
The weather is warm with the sun very strong. The elevation is around 3600 meters, about 11900 feet, not too bad as we have been up to 5008 meters so far, over 16500 feet. We (really Mimi) found a nice hotel with high speed Internet in the rooms. We were very tired so we took a nap shorting after having lunch. We went out after our nap and met a couple from Latin America. It was very interesting talking with them and our travels. They took the picture of us in front of the Potala Palace. We are going to stay in Lhasa for a while to see the sites.
